Muslims Believe in the Previous Scriptures
As Muslims, we believe that Allah revealed the previous scriptures, and we are obligated to have faith in them.
The scriptures are as follows:
- Taurat: Known as the Torah among Jewish and Christian communities outside the Nusantara, while in this region it is referred to by the same name (Taurat).
- Zabur: Known as the Psalms among Jewish and Christian communities outside the Nusantara or as Mazmur in this region.
- Injil: Known as the Gospel among Christians outside the Nusantara, while in this region it is also called by the same name.
However, we also believe that these scriptures have been corrupted by the hands of their followers (the Jews and Christians).
Claiming that the God of the Bible is Satan is indeed a very grave accusation. Na’uzubillahiminzalik (We seek refuge with Allah from such a claim).
What I will present here, though, serves as evidence that the previous scriptures have been severely corrupted, to the point that certain verses can portray the God of the Bible as resembling Satan himself. This shows that the “fingerprints” of Satan can be traced throughout many parts of the text, and that it is this accursed being who is ultimately responsible for corrupting the divine message, as the book itself bears witness.
Testimony of Corruption
“How can you say, ‘We are wise, and we have the law of the LORD’? Behold, the lying pen of the scribes has made it into a lie.”
Jeremiah 8:8
Interestingly, the Quran also mentions the same issue, with the addition that Allah curses those who commit such acts:
“So woe to those who write the Scripture with their own hands and then say, ‘This is from Allah,’ to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written, and woe to them for what they earn.”
Surah Al-Baqarah 2:79
The “Children of the Devil” Statement
Believe it or not, Jesus once told his people that they were the children of the devil, as mentioned in John 8:44, where he says,
“You belong to your father, the devil,”
He then continue in this epic debate with his people by saying,
“He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
This is mind blowing because if we look at them today, they do exactly what Jesus said. Their actions, which are lying, plotting murder, etc., are being displayed all over the world. They are following the footsteps of the devil, their father, according to Jesus.
That is, in fact, a direct violation of the Ten Commandments which are the very foundation of their covenant with God. Literally all in the list: killing, stealing, giving false testimony, and coveting.

Even though we firmly believe that the previous scriptures have been corrupted, we also recognize that they still carry faint echoes of the original truth, such as the speech of Jesus mentioned above.
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that we Muslims uphold the same principles found in the Ten Commandments, which are perfectly aligned with Islamic values.
The Biblical Portrayal of God That Mirrors Satan, Violation on 3rd Commandment — and How the Qur’an Corrects It
We do not consider GOD in the Bible to be the devil in the literal sense. But this article is a fair comparison between the nature of the devil mentioned in the Bible VS GOD, just like I did on article Allah VS Satan in this article.
God, as we understand, should possess qualities such as being Most Compassionate and Most Merciful, Most Just, and the ultimate source of all goodness and mercy. His gentleness is unmatched, offering mercy to those who are lost and welcoming sincere repentance with open arms. His love encompasses everything, providing comfort, guidance, and hope to anyone who seeks it.
However, in the Bible, God is portrayed with attributes that raise questions, such as inflicting very insane punishments on Earth and displaying anger. For example giving instruction to his people to do mass killing.
Genocidal God
1 Samuel 15:3
“Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.”
This portrayal casts doubt on the image of God as Most Compassionate and Most Just, leading to some inconsistencies and contradictions in the understanding of His nature.
This raises a significant question:
What kind of God would command mass killings? Killing babies? In the English KJV translation, this verse mentions “infant and suckling.” It’s horrifying! Little babies, still nursing from their mothers, ripped away and killed! Not even an animal is spared, not even a donkey. I mean, what did the donkey do?
Numbers 31:17-18
“Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man,
but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.”
Why? This killing order was accompanied by a specific order to keep the Midianite women for themselves. For what? Sex?
Interestingly, the State of Israel has used this verse to legitimize their crimes towards the Gazan and calling them Amalek.
Not only that, Moses according to the Bible was so angry that his army did not kill the women as instructed. So God sent a plague upon them because of their disobedience.
This is in stark contrast to the God of the Quran, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful, Most Forgiving;
Surah Al-Baqarah 2:190
“And fight in the way of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not like transgressors.”
Surah Al-Anfaal 8:61
“And if they incline to peace, then incline to it and trust in Allah. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.”
When we examine the Bible closely, we find several more verses that attribute to GOD’s actions strikingly similar to those of Satan’s actions such as tempting, deceiving, and inciting people toward sin.
“Satanic God”
For instance,
“And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham”
(Genesis 22:1, KJV)
and again,
“And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and He moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah”
(2 Samuel 24:1).
Yet another passage declares,
“If the prophet be deceived… I the LORD have deceived that prophet”
(Ezekiel 14:9),
and
“The LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets” (1 Kings 22:23).
Such portrayals blur the line between divine justice and satanic influence, even showing God authorizing deception and temptation.
In stark contrast, the Qur’an maintains a flawless distinction: Allah never tempts nor deceives; rather, He tests (يبتلي) people to purify them. The Qur’an states,
“Do people think they will be left alone because they say, ‘We believe,’ and will not be tested?”
Surah Al-‘Ankabut 29:2
and
“We will surely test you with fear and hunger and loss, but give glad tidings to the patient”
Surah Al-Baqarah 2:155
Forgiveness Through Blood
Throughout the Bible, false gods are often portrayed as demanding blood sacrifices from their followers, sometimes even human sacrifices as a means of gaining favor or repentance. For example, the Canaanite god Molech required children to be sacrificed by fire, a practice the true God explicitly condemned:
“They have built the high places of Baal to burn their children in the fire as offerings to Baal—something I did not command or mention, nor did it enter my mind”
Jeremiah 19:5
Yet, ironically, within the Christian doctrine, the central belief revolves around a similar idea that God needed the sacrifice of His only ‘begotten Son’ to forgive the sins of humanity. This concept mirrors the very pagan notion that forgiveness or divine satisfaction requires blood, which contradicts multiple Old Testament passages where God declares forgiveness without any sacrifice at all.
In Ezekiel 18:21–22, it is stated:
“But if the wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed and keeps all My statutes and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. All the transgressions he has committed shall not be remembered against him.”
Similarly, Jonah 3:10 records that when the people of Nineveh repented sincerely,
“God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil that He had said He would do unto them, and He did it not.”
In both examples, no sacrifice was demanded. Only repentance and moral correction. This directly undermines the idea that God’s forgiveness depends on shedding innocent blood. Rather, it suggests that the notion of divine sacrifice introduced later reflects human distortion, echoing the same false-god mentality that the prophets once condemned.
Conclusion
Although Muslims acknowledge that Allah originally revealed the Torah, the Zabur, and the Injeel to the Israelites, Islam teaches that the true identity, nature, and message of Him has not been preserved in their entirety within the current forms of these scriptures. From the Islamic perspective, the concept of God portrayed in the versions of these texts that we have today, often referred to by names such as YHWH no longer accurately represents Allah’s perfect attributes or His oneness.
Instead, we believe that over time, distortions and alterations introduced by human hands and the influence of the devil have obscured and corrupted the original message and depiction of the Almighty.
As a result, the God described in the Bible has satanic traits and completely demeaning God’s Highness and Mercifulness. This is why atheists like Richard Dawkins, who was raised as a Christian, described the God of the Old Testament in his book The God Delusion as
“ a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”
